What issues was your pistol experiencing? Was it having timing problems? Otherwise, you could have a gun you love to carry but can't trust anymore. ![]() So I would NOT shoot +p's through it unless I called Colt first and found out what they say. Since you bought the gun used you have no way of knowing how many +p's have gone down range or if it was ever sent back to Colt. ![]() My guess is I exceeded that 1000 round plus p limit (OK I know I did, qualifying four times a year with 25-30 rounds of ammo alone exceeded that limit.). A buddy of mine wanted it knowing the issues so I sold it ot him. Since Colt hasn't made these in three decades that support probably isn't there any more.Īfter 15 years of daily pocket carry and being shot a lot I ended up having some issues. WHen Colt announced they were discontinuing it he ordered 30 or 40.) said it was ok for plus p but needed to be sent back to the factory every 500-1000 rounds of +p. IIRC my owners manual (I bought it new in 1996 it had was the last one they had. Yes, it will handle very limited use of plus p. ![]() That's awesome! So do you think it can handle +P defense loads like the 135gr short barreled Gold Dot loads?Īnd thank you for nailing down the date for me!
